About Us:
The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) inspects our practice regularly to make sure we meet their rigorous standards. Only a handful of practices meet the AAHA standards. We are proud to be a member of this prestigious association.
Our veterinarians and team provide life-long care for your pets. We begin with adoption/selection counseling, move on to vaccination and training, help you with any problems along the way, and finally, we provide extensive geriatric care as your pet ages.
In order to provide complete integrative care, Holley Cone, DVM, CVA, AVCA offers acupuncture, herbal consults and chiropractic adjustments. These services can be used as the sole method or treatment or as an adjunct to conventional medicine.
It is the little extras, like behavioral counseling, pet loss support, rehabilitation and weight loss programs that make us special. Don’t hesitate to ask us how we can help your pet with his or her special needs.
Bees Ferry Veterinary Hospital is a Wildlife Intake Center for the West Ashley neighborhood. This means that local citizens can bring us sick, injured or abandoned wildlife. We diagnose and treat their problems and then release them to a certified wildlife rehabilitator for continued care and eventual release to the wild.

Pet Helpers 2010 Oyster Roast

The evening of March 20, 2010 found a variety of four-legged children, along with their parents or guardians, at the Charleston Visitors Center at 375 Meeting Street. The 9th annual Pet Helpers 2010 Oyster Roast was under way from 7:00pm – 11:00pm. The covered bus shed at the Visitors Center was jumpin’ with lively and versatile tunes by the Shakin’ Martinis. Katie Mehle, Director of Public Relations and Outreach could be seen circling the crowd to ensure all was going as planned and that everyone was having a great time.
All-you-could eat mounds of steaming, succulent oysters were continually being loaded onto the many tables which supplied ample space for everyone to be comfortable and have elbow room to enjoy this popular lowcountry shell fish. Attendees had other delicious options such as sausage, shrimp, corn niblets, and potatoes (better known as Frogmore Stew), hot dogs, veggie dogs, chili, bean soup, and let’s not forget the sweets! Sodas and water were included in the entry ticket, however, beer and wine were also available at a nominal charge.
Throughout the evening attendees could place silent bids on the plethora of silent auction items. A few of the items were diva beds, grooming products, kennel services, treat bags, framed art, “stuffed” animals, and of course, pet apparel galore. The proceeds from the silent auction supports Pet Helpers various needs in the effort to continue caring for the many dogs and cats until their new adoptive parent discovers them.
Creative banners designed by various schools were displayed to capture votes by the crowd for “the best”. Sponsors for the evening included Rosebank Farms, Sugar Bake Shop, Koenig Construction, Fat Boy’s Lowcountry Cooking, and Elizabeth Grace Occasions.
Carol Linville, the Founder of Pet Helpers, along with members on the Board of Directors, the staff and devoted volunteers at Pet Helpers, do a fantastic job caring for the four-legged children who need help, shelter and love. Go to www.PetHelpers.org to learn more about the Pet Helpers adoption facility as well as the adjacent Spay and Neuter Clinic. They are located at 1430 Folly Road, James Island, SC. The phone number is 843-795-1110.
Please go to the Gallery tab and look for Pet Helpers 2010 Oyster Roast album under Special Events. No, your eyesight is not blurred, however, some photos are blurred due to a camera setting oversight. Since I did not want to disappoint those of you looking for the evening’s photos, I posted the better shots. Enjoy!
The annual oyster roast is only one event held by Pet Helpers throughout the year; the most formal being the annual Fur Ball held in the fall. Watch for the next Pet Helpers event and get ready for a great time for a great cause!
