The 17th Annual Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure is scheduled for October 16, 2010 beginning at 7:00am on Daniel Island at the Family Circle Cup Stadium. All of us have been touched in some way by cancer, either personally, a family member, a friend, neighbor, or co-worker. This organization began by a sister for a sister (Susan G. Komen) and to memorialize that sister’s fight with this dreaded disease. It is one of the most recognized charitable organizations in the world and attracts the attention of thousands.
Please go to the website below and register to participate in the Run, be a volunteer, or just come out to offer support and cheer everyone on in this so important event.

Woodlands Changes Ownership

Summerville’s well-known Woodlands Resort & Inn was recently purchased by a local Charleston attorney, Johnny Linton, and his family. (Click here to view photos posted in our Gallery). Former owner Sheila C. Johnson of BET fame and her Salamander Hospitality group have been retained to continue managing the resort. If you haven’t visited Woodlands for dining, afternoon tea, or lodging, take a look at their website and find that special dining event or weekend special to treat yourself to a unique experience. Let’s hope the new owners will maintain the level of service required to continue the accolades and awards being given to this Summerville destination, just 30 minutes from downtown Charleston. Woodlands is only one of six facilities in the United States to be honored with the Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond awards for both lodging and dining.
