If you missed the Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony today at the new Charleston Veterinary Referral Center (CVRC) located in West Ashley, let me share with you what we saw and heard. At 10:30am Mayor Riley cut the blue ribbon to the entrance of this jaw-dropping facility headed by Founder and Chief of Staff, Dr. Alan E. Green and Medical Director, Dr. David Sachs.

When you enter the lobby, if you didn’t know better, you might think you are inside the Medical University of South Carolina, the Cleveland Clinic, or The Mayo Clinic. As Mayor Riley pointed out, there is no verterinary medical facility like this in the region and you would be hard-pressed to find something similar in the country for your family pet’s emergency needs.

CVRC is fully staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by some of the most impressive talents and resumés in the verterinary field, doctors and nurses alike. Their hope is that your family pet will not require their emergency and critical care services, but if so…they are here and ready to help your pet and you.

You will be in awe when you see not only the state-of-the-art technology such as the MRI and CT equipment provided by Medical Imaging Technologies, but the actual rooms for surgery, triage, oncology, cardiology, soft tissue and orthopedic care, neurology/neurosurgery, internal medicine, critical care, recovery, and post-op. CVRC even has a well-stocked pet pharmacy, The Water Bowl, for any medication required in the treatment of your family pet.

CVRC is Charleston’s most advanced 24-hour Emergency, Critical Care, and Specialty Veterinary Center. A compassionate team providing an outstanding level of care for your pet and exceptional client service to you as a pet owner. CVRC will also schedule specialty appointments by referral from your family veterinarian.

What a blessing to have a facility such as this come to the West Ashley area of Greater Charleston. Pet owners can now breathe a sigh of relief, 24/7, 365 days a year, knowing there is a special place to take their special family member if a crisis arises. Thank you to Dr. Green, Dr. Sachs and staff from all of us in the Greater Charleston area!

FOUR local hotels in the Charleston area made the “Gold List”  which is put out annually by Condé Nast Traveler. This is the 17th year Condé Nast Traveler has asked over 25,000 readers to make their selections to share with the world. It is not surprising to us Charleston locals that the four hotels to make “the list” and the (reasons they did so) are Charleston Place (the grand dame of Charleston), French Quarter Inn (high ceilings and 18th century decor plus complimentary treats), Planters Inn (southern style and prime location), and the Sanctuary Hotel on Kiawah Island (central spot on the island and oceanfront rooms).

If you’re planning a trip to Charleston or already live in the area and just want to treat yourself to a special get-away, we suggest you try one of the four hotels mentioned. Afterall, 25,000+ people can’t be all wrong! If your choice is booked for a specific time, not to worry, we have many more fabulous places to lay down your head. Click on the “Lodging” menu tab to read about this “fab four” or to find other lodging options in the Greater Charleston area.
