Reverie on the Ashley

If you look up the word “Reverie” you’ll find it means “tranquility”. As you enter the gate at Reverie on the Ashley, you will feel you are entering a grand plantation as you see the towering grand oaks with their Spanish moss hanging overhead as if to say, “Look at my tapestry.” The well-thought design of the buildings with their magnificent columns will immediately make you think of Gone with the Wind and Scarlett’s Tara. Reverie is the brain-child and “baby” of developer, Ben Gramling and sits on 32 acres along the Ashley River just west of I-526 and a two minute drive to River’s Edge Marina to the east side of I-526, a real convenience and added ease for boaters residing at Reverie. It’s also about location, location, location and the proximity to shopping, dining, beaches, historic downtown Charleston, as well as to the airport. Although 12 of the 32 acres are high, Mr. Gramling opted to build on only 4 acres so as to preserve much of the natural habitat for the wildlife and ensure the vegetation’s survival. The natural green space also offers residents a special type of condominium living with terra firma, unlike many condo environments. The interior features include Australian Cypress flooring, triple crown molding throughout, a six-burner gas range, and structured wiring, only to name a few. As they say, “Seeing is believing” so just a description does an injustice to this awesome property. Outdoor areas are a whole other thing to rave about! Reverie has the prettiest community pool and pool location in the Greater Charleston area. As you take in the rays by the pool, you can watch the rays (Sea Rays, that is) and river activity or partake in the fun from the Reverie dock. 30’ and 40’ boat slips are also available for purchase, but only by Reverie condo owners. An outdoor grill and firepit are located by the gazebo, which is complete with ceiling fans, chairs, and tables and are fun gathering places for residents and their guests. The pool’s cabana has a sink, vast eating areas and seating including a bar level eating area, and designer styled restrooms with changing areas including showers. In addition to the common outdoor areas, every condo has a riverfront balcony with slate-tiled flooring and wired for a ceiling fan. The four top-floor condos each have their own private, rooftop terrace with an overhead arbor along with electrical outlets and plumbing/water faucet for plant watering convenience or perhaps to have that hot tub installed. Reverie on the Ashley is a lifestyle highly sought…but rarely found! Come home to the “river” and give yourself the gift of “tranquility”.

Indigo Fields

Development of Indigo Fields began in 1989. Shortly after hurricane Hugo hit the coast of South Carolina, the original developer went bankrupt and the bank took over the neighborhood. Eventually, the bank held an auction and sold many lots to individual buyers. Many of these individuals had custom homes built on their properties (with the approval of the ACC). After a time, more lots were sold to developers and additional homes were built (again, with the approval of the ACC). A very few vacant lots remain. One difference between Indigo Fields and many other developments is that the majority of the homes were custom built by different builders rather than the “cookie cutter” tract homes seen elsewhere. Each home is different yet they look like they belong together. Currently, Indigo Fields is a quiet, friendly, safe place to live. Homes and grounds are well kept. Landscaping is maturing. Neighbors wave as you walk or drive by. Children play and ride their bicycles. Adults walk and jog for exercise. Tell someone you live in Indigo Fields and they will understand your pride. Although the signage at the entrance to development indicates Indigo Fields, there are actually four separate developments, each with their own homeowners associations. As you enter from Dorchester road, the first road on your left leads to Indigo Terrace. The second road on your left leads to the Indigo Pointe development. Proceeding straight on Indigo Fields Boulevard takes you to Indigo on the Ashley. Shopping and restaurants are nearby. Children from Indigo Fields attend Dorchester County District 2 schools, some of the best in the area.
